This course will give delegates the opportunity to gain knowledge of epilepsy and how to manage seizures safely. Delegates will learn what epilepsy is and how it affects the brain, the neurology of a seizure, physical signs and symptoms, the different types of seizure, triggers, managing epilepsy through lifestyle changes and medication.
This course is designed to enable you to increase your awareness of epilepsy. You will begin by exploring the meaning of the term epilepsy, including defining the term, the prevalence rates and the causes of epilepsy. The course will explain the different types of seizures an individual may experience, including generalised (tonic-clonic, atonic, myoclonic, and absences), focal aware and focal impaired seizures. You will learn how seizures can be triggered and the common risk factors associated with epilepsy.
