Moving and Assisting with a Hoist (Introduction) Formerly Moving and Handling

Overview

Aimed at staff who are either new or have been out of the care sector for a while. Delegates will learn and demonstrate a variety of moving and assisting practices with a focus on the use of scenario-based learning. By the end of the training, delegates would have learned the skills to move and assist individuals safely.

• Theory of moving and handling
• A practical session for people movers including:
• Supporting an individual to walk
• Transfers from chair to chair
• Moving an individual in bed *
• Using slide sheets to reposition an individual in bed *
• Demonstration and use of hoist *
