If you or your staff come in to any form of contact with food and beverages, this course is suitable for you. The training covers legislation relating to food safety, how food can become contaminated, and ways in which delegates can reduce the risk to individuals. By the end of this course, delegates will be confident in preparing and dealing with food and beverages.

Training Syllabus

  • The five major food groups, identification and their importance for energy, growth and repair.
  • Salt
  • What constitutes a balanced diet using the Eatwell plate
  • Fluid intake, dehydration including how to recognise signs of dehydration and how to reduce the effects of dehydration on the older person.
  • Malnutrition, recognising the signs and symptoms, the effects of malnutrition and how to fortify foods to correct malnutrition.
  • MUST – Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool – a brief overview of using the 5 step screening tool to identify adults who are either malnourished, at risk of malnutrition or obese.
